NEW YORK — Rapper Megan Thee Stallion was taken to a hospital in New York City on Tuesday after she became ill during a Broadway performance of “Moulin Rouge!: The Musical”

The “Savage (Remix)” singer had to exit midway during the production, which is her Broadway debut, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” her representative, Didier Morais, said in a statement. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.”

The type of illness and her condition were unclear.

The three-time Grammy Award winner had begun an eight-week engagement at the Hirschfeld Theatre on March 24 and was scheduled to perform through May 17, Variety reported.

She was playing the role of Zidler in “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” according to Deadline.

It is unclear how the show will continue in the absence of Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete.

The performer’s hairstylist and close friend, Kellon Deryck, who has been working with her at the show, also confirmed Megan Thee Stallion’s visit to the hospital in a post on X.

“Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital,” Deryck wrote. He did not elaborate.

After seven years on Broadway, “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” will end its run on July 26, Variety reported. When the show closes, it will have played 2,265 regular performances and 24 previews, according to the entertainment news website.

That makes it the 36th-longest-running show in Broadway history.
