With Warnock’s second runoff victory in recent years, the Democrats will have a 51-49 Senate majority, according to The Associated Press. The government will be divided with the Republicans having flipped control of the House narrowly.

Warnock won by a very slim margin against Walker in a runoff election that drew record voter turnout in Georgia, according to WSB-TV.

More people voted in this runoff election than in the 2020 presidential election, the Georgia Secretary of State’s office said, according to WSB-TV.

Georgia’s Senate race for 2022 had to be decided in a runoff on Tuesday after neither Republican Herschel Walker nor Warnock received more than 50% of the votes in the Nov. 2022 midterm elections.

According to WSB-TV, Warnock’s win also means that the Democrats will be over the threshold that would require a power-sharing agreement between both Democrats and Republicans in Senate committees.
