SMYRNA, GA — The City of Smyrna is now a Bee City USA affiliate after the City Council approved a resolution giving the city the designation.

As a Bee City USA affiliate, Smyrna will work to protect bees and other pollinators by reducing pesticide use within city limits, providing pollinator habitats and promoting the use of native plants.

The city will also work to educate the public about the importance of pollinators.

The efforts are in addition to Keep Smyrna Beautiful Pollinator Pocket Program.

Through the program, small garden areas designed to support the life cycle of native pollinators are being created in each of Smyrna’s wards.
