MARIETTA, GA — One of Cobb County’s largest fall festivals has been canceled as organizers prepare for potential severe weather from Hurricane Isaias this weekend.
Chalktoberfest, originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Marietta Square, will no longer take place because of the weather forecast. The accompanying craft beer festival has also been canceled.
The annual event brings together international chalk artists, vendors and attendees for a weekend of activities at the square.
Organizers say they have never encountered a forecast this severe during the event’s history, prompting the decision to cancel.
In a message to vendors, organizers said the safety of artists, volunteers, vendors and attendees must come first.
Anyone who purchased tickets to the craft beer festival will be contacted regarding the cancellation.
Organizers say they plan to bring Chalktoberfest back to Marietta Square next year, promising an event that will be bigger and “better than ever.”
