The City of Atlanta is monitoring the storm ahead of several large gatherings, including Atlanta Pride and SpelHouse Homecoming.
City officials are expected to receive an updated briefing from the National Weather Service Friday before making decisions about city-hosted events. Independently organized events will be evaluated by their respective organizers.

- The Georgia Department of Transportation is also putting scheduled weekend construction projects on hold due to the approaching storm.
Some major events still scheduled
Despite the cancellations, several events are still expected to take place.
- Atlanta Pride Festival remains scheduled as a rain-or-shine event, although organizers say weather conditions could lead to temporary delays or changes to the schedule.
- The Georgia Tech football game against Duke is also still scheduled.
- Other events expected to continue include Oakhurst Porchfest in Decatur and the Wire & Wood Songwriters Festival in Alpharetta, although Oakhurst Porchfest could be affected if thunderstorms develop.
