Former President Obama heads to metro Atlanta to campaign for Georgia Democrats

Former President Barack Obama

ATLANTA — Former President Barack Obama is visiting metro Atlanta Wednesday to rally support for Democratic candidates ahead of next week’s midterm elections.

Obama is scheduled to appear at a campaign rally in Morrow alongside U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms.

The event will take place at The Arena at Southlake, with doors opening at 4 p.m.

Ossoff is seeking re-election to the U.S. Senate against Republican challenger and U.S. Rep. Mike Collins. Bottoms is running for governor against Republican candidate Rick Jackson.

The visit comes as several prominent political figures make campaign stops across Georgia ahead of Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

President Donald Trump held a rally Saturday in Perry, Georgia, to support Collins and Jackson. It marked his second visit to the state this month.

Collins and Jackson are also scheduled to make campaign stops in south Georgia.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to visit Georgia Thursday to campaign for Ossoff and Bottoms.

The visits come during the final days of campaigning before voters head to the polls Tuesday.
