27 dogs need homes before Thursday night deadline at overcrowded Fulton County shelter

FULTON COUNTY, GA — Fulton County Animal Services is asking for immediate help as overcrowding leaves the shelter with more dogs than it can safely accommodate.

The shelter says 27 dogs need to be adopted or placed in temporary foster homes by 7 p.m. Thursday.

More than 450 dogs are currently being housed at the facility, approximately 80 more than the shelter can humanely accommodate.

Shelter officials say they have seen an increase in animals being brought in as families face housing challenges and financial difficulties.

The shelter is encouraging residents to consider adopting or fostering a dog to help ease overcrowding. Officials say even providing a temporary home for a few days could make a difference.

Fulton County Animal Services is located on Fulton Industrial Boulevard in Atlanta.
