Actress Kirstie Alley has died at the age of 71. The news was posted by her children on their mother’s Twitter page, and reported by other outlets including Variety.

Alley was a two-time Emmy-winning actor who perhaps was best-known for her role as Rebecca Howe on the NBC comedy series “Cheers.” Her children in a tweet said she passed away “after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.”
