Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has sold two adjoining mansions in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights neighborhood for $68 million combined. The sale ranks as the second largest private home transaction in the city’s history. Ulrich originally purchased the properties from Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff roughly a decade ago for $36 million total, nearly doubling his investment. The buyer has not been identified. Separately, Ulrich sold a 161-acre parcel of land in Marin for $16 million to the Marin Open Space Trust, which plans to convert it into public space. Combined, the sales total $82 million. Ulrich now turns his attention to Metallica’s “Life Burns Faster” residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere, running October 1, 2026, through March 13, 2027.
