Led Zeppelin grants “Stairway To Heaven” license to ‘Narnia’ trailer

Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin has made a rare exception to their strict music licensing policy. Jimmy Page approved the use of “Stairway To Heaven” for the trailer of Netflix’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, directed by Greta Gerwig. The 1971 classic features a remixed version with isolated vocals and amplified guitar. “I am thrilled that she chose ‘Stairway To Heaven’ in the trailer for her film,” Page said. Gerwig personally wrote to Page and Plant seeking permission, calling the song “an epic song, and narratively, about a spiritual journey.” She added, “I was so moved that they allowed me to use this song.” Previous requests from Wayne’s World and Almost Famous were denied. The film hits theaters in February.
