A survey finds 21% of American adults are listening to more music than a year ago, with Gen Z leading the trend. Gen Z accounts for 45% of increased listeners, more than double their 20% share of the general adult population. Meanwhile, older generations lag behind — Baby Boomers represent just 8% of increased listeners despite making up 28% of the population. For those consuming more music, streaming service recommendations are the top discovery method, cited by 59% of respondents. Social media and music blogs follow at 52%, with friend and family recommendations at 48%. Overall, music remains central to American life, with 84% of U.S. adults calling it “very” or “fairly” important.
