United States CD revenue jumped 58.6% in the first half of 2026, reaching $171 million, according to the Recording Industry Association of America’s mid-year report. That’s up from roughly $108 million during the same period last year — the sharpest growth of any category in the report. Vinyl generated far more at $554 million but grew at a slower 17.7% rate. K-pop’s collectible packaging and multiple album variants drove much of the CD surge, though sales rose 6.7% even without K-pop titles. Overall, physical music revenue climbed 25.9%. Streaming still dominates, accounting for $4.9 billion of the industry’s $6 billion total. Downloads continued declining, falling 12.7% overall.
