Florida woman used $228K from HOAs to buy Bucs tickets, pay bills, deputies say

A Florida woman is accused of stealing more than $228,000 from homeowner association accounts she managed and used the cash to pay for personal items, including tickets to Tampa Bay Buccaneers football games, authorities said.

Jamie Fonville, 46, of Tarpon Springs, was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of felony scheme to defraud, according to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Fonville oversaw bank accounts and issued checks for 58 different HOAs in her capacity as an accounting manager at First Choice Association Management, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

According to the sheriff’s office, an investigation began after a complaint was made in February.

Investigators said that Fonville used account information from three HOAs to create fraudulent checks that she deposited into her personal bank account, WTSP-TV reported.

According to the sheriff’s office, Fonville used the money to pay for food and groceries, pay her credit card bills and buy tickets to Bucs games.

The total amount alleged to have been stolen by Fonville totaled $228,300.83, according to the news release.

Fonville was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
