California inmate accused of killing convicted child molester, critically injuring another prisoner

CORCORAN, Calif. — A California inmate is accused of striking and killing a convicted child molester at a Corcoran prison last week, authorities said.

According to The Associated Press, California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison inmate Jonathan Watson, 41, hit 48-year-old David Bobb, who was convicted of sexually assaulting a child, in the head with a walking cane Thursday, authorities said. Bobb died on the way to a nearby hospital.

Watson, who is serving a life sentence following a first-degree murder conviction, also struck another prisoner during the attack, officials said. That prisoner was critically injured and is still in the hospital, according to KSEE-TV.

No further information was immediately available about the second victim’s identity or possible charges against Watson.
