I may have just seen the best play EVER at The Fox Theatre last night. "War Horse"... just awesome. I brought my 11-year-old niece who is almost as horse-crazy as I am. I knew she could handle the "war" part of the story because our family had all seen Spielberg's movie version together last year. I still wasn't prepared to be hit so hard emotionally with how the stage-version beautifully and dramatically handles the hell of war. It's incredible! And the horses? You will be BLOWN AWAY. The choreography involved with the horse "handlers" is so intricate and timed so perfectly, you'll find yourself believing the horses are real. Of course, they're not, yet their movement is so spot-on realistic that you're not sure whether to marvel at the horses, the great acting, the beautiful music, or at the simple but impressively effective artwork on the screen onstage. Somehow, the story allows you to take it all in at once for an experience you don't want to miss at our beautiful Fox Theatre.
