In preparing for an interview with Ann Wilson yesterday, I read Ann and Nancy's brand new autobography, "Kicking and Dreaming," and found it very entertaining. I don't think the sisters left many questions unanswered, and I was filled with renewed awe of their talent, and of their unwavering will to make careers out of what they love most in life besides family -- music.  It's especially interesting to note how successful they have become despite the incredibly sexist times they survived.  I was very touched reading about their childhoods,  Ann's in particular, as the girls were painfully shy.  There is an obvious great lesson about the way certain kids are treated in our society -- that cruel treatment of children can actually be a catalyst for some of them to rise above it all.  But it's still hard to bear when you read how mean kids were to a young Ann about her weight, and a studder she managed to control the older she got.  The ladies dish about their peers -- good and bad -- like John Mellencamp being a real jerk, and Bernie Taupin hitting hard on Nancy!  Check it out, the book just came out Tuesday.  And don't forget, Heart will be at The Fox on November 7th!
