May is Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Month

By Kaedy Kiely

You may not be too concerned about Lyme Disease, but what you DON'T know could one day be an issue.  My dear friend Liz, who started the non-profit Georgia Lyme Disease Association which is hosting an awareness program today at the Capitol, had a severe bout with Lyme disease which took a real toll on her and her family's life since she was originally misdiagnosed. I believe she is STILL living with remnants of the disease years later.  I know my aunt is.  Lyme Disease is devastating, especially because it comes with enjoying the great outdoors!  I encourage you to learn more for you and your loved ones. -- go to wwww.georgialymedisease.org.    Governor Deals' proclamation declaring May, "Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Month will be presented today in the South Wing of the Georgia State Capitoil from 1 - 3:30p.  You go, Liz!  I'm so proud of you!
