Atlanta Track Club announces finalists in the  2012 AJC Peachtree Road Race T-Shirt Design Contest.

The winning design will be unveiled at the event on July 4

ATLANTA – March 20, 2012 – The Atlanta Track Club has announced the five finalists in the 2012 AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt Design Contest.  Finalists, which include three University of West Georgia students and two local graphic designers, were chosen by a panel of judges representing the Atlanta Track Club, the AJC and local graphic artists.

“The T-shirt design contest has become a tradition for the AJC Peachtree Road Race and is something that spectators and runners look forward to every year,” said Tracey Russell, executive director of the Atlanta Track Club.  “We were amazed by the number of talented artists that submitted designs this year and can’t wait to find out the one the public chooses as the winner!”

Voting for the 2012 AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirt design is open until April 30, 2012 at ajc.com/peachtree .  The winning design, which will be unveiled on July 4 at the 43rd running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race, will be featured on 60,000 AJC Peachtree Road Race T-shirts.  The winning artist will receive $1,000, and each of the four runner-ups will receive $100 for their efforts.

The Atlanta Track Club, organizer of the AJC Peachtree Road Race, has used the T-shirt contest to determine the design for the Peachtree finisher’s shirt since 1995.  The 2011 T-shirt design was created by University of West Georgia student, Jessica Ferguson, of Kennesaw who created the design as a project for her Digital Media for Artists class.  Ferguson’s background in painting served as inspiration for her winning design that featured the word Peachtree in colorful, painted letters across the shirt.
