American Pie's America Troubador on WPBA 3/28

By Kaedy Kiely

I was lucky to have the opportunity to interview Don McLean a few weeks ago.  Years ago I heard he could be a bit prickly, but he was terrific to talk to -- he's a smart, fascinating guy who happened to write one of the biggest songs in American history (along with a lot of other great music!)  It is very interesting to hear about his childhood -- he was a sickly, unpopular kid, who always felt he was going to be "big" one day.  His musical influences are vast, and he believes that to be a good songwriter one has to immerse himself in ALL types of music.  Don't miss the PBS fundraiser showing of the documetary of McLean, "American Troubador," on WPBA tomorrow night 3/28 at 11pm.   Hear my interview with him here.
