Love Your Ideas! Let's Get More Specific, and Keep 'em Coming!

By Kaedy Kiely

I've had lots of great feedback from folks on fb and through e-mail and phone calls, about what you like and need in Morning Drive:

Debbie L. wrote, "When I get in my car I want MUSIC!! GOOD MUSIC!! I need something to get my blood flowing!! Aerosmith, AC/DC, The Eagles, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Loverboy, Journey, Foreigner, you get the idea! The music I grew up on!"

Glenn R. suggests,  "Feature songs from a particular year for one day each week and go back and play some songs that... will take us back."

Linda B got very specific; " Allow listeners to program their “wake-up call”.  Five songs to be played each morning at 6:30 or 7:30 (or whatever time fits your programming) to wake us up and get us moving.    You of course would let that listener know in advance that their wake-up call was going to be played on a specific day.  Have them pre-record their wake-up greeting for the city and send a shout-out to one or two people. I love the rock riddle!  I even won one time!   So please, keep that.  I personally like to hear the headlines at the top and bottom of the hour, and today’s forecast once or twice an hour too.   Traffic is not important to me as I do not have a long commute but I know that I am in the minority.  I enjoy artist interviews and trivia, backstories, etc.  I also like some celebrity interviews but not Kardashian type celebrities.  It would be nice if you could feature a local band/artist in-studio on Fridays.  Talk to them and spin one of their songs – not make them play live unless it’s just a guy and his acoustic guitar."

And R. Pope says, " We trust you to get us going! Surprise us...:-)"

So what do YOU have to say about your morning radio?  How important are those traffic reports -- how often do you need to hear them?  Quick weather, news and sports reports -- do you need or want them all?  How about the music?  Is it okay to play a slow song every once in a while, or does that drag you down while you're getting ready for work?  And do you like fun contests like THE ROCKRIDDLE -- how it's sometimes more fun to play than caring about what you win?  What do you think, and have you got more good ideas like these listeners?  Please take a minute to let me know by commenting on this blog, on fb, or e-mail me at kaedy.kiely@coxradio.com
