My Buddy Tiger Greene Recruits NFL Stars to Help Kids and Their Families Fight Childhood Obesity This Saturday

By Kaedy Kiely

I met Tiger Greene last year when his dad had the winning bid at a charity auction to sit in on my radio show one morning.  They thought it would be a nice opportunity to promote an upcoming event of theirs that happens again this Saturday:

GEORGIA YOUTH RECRUITS NFL STARS FOR HIS SACKING OBESITY SPORTS & WELLNESS CAMP, SATURDAY APRIL 21st, GEORGIA DOME

Atlanta, Georgia —April 18, 2012— At the age of 12, an Atlanta youth started an organization dedicated to help kids and families fight childhood obesity. Now, 2 years later, Tiger Greene has taken Team Tiger http://teamtiger.org/ and his motto of "Yes we Can – Follow Me" to inspire and lead youth all over the world on their journey toward a healthier lifestyle. Tiger Greene founded Team Tiger, an organization dedicated to help kids and families fight childhood obesity, has joined forces with NFL star Marcus Stroud to put on the 2nd Annual Sacking Obesity Sports & Wellness Camp www.sackingobesitycamp.com, Saturday, April 21 at the Georgia Dome. There is no charge to attend the event, but you must register at www.sackingobesitycamp.com.

The Sacking Obesity Sports & Wellness Camps focus on providing information and the foundation for the kids who attend to start down a healthier, more active path.

Camps include: Football and Fitness Related Drills; Nutritional Information Stations; Positive, motivational messaging; and Post-event plan and resources for on-going support. Registration is open online and will close when the camp is full, so kids and their parents are encouraged to register early.

3-time Pro Bowl, 3-time All Pro NFL athlete and former University of Georgia star Marcus Stroud along with other current and former NFL players scheduled to appear include: Mike Peterson, Spencer Johnson, Marcellus Wiley, Lamar Campbell, George WilsonVerron Hayes, Deon Grant, Brian Finneran, Michael Jenkins and Dwan Edwards.

"Last year we reached more than 250 kids and we are expecting even more this year," said Tiger Greene, Team Tiger Founder. "The reason I started Team Tiger is because I want kids to learn, like I have, how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. By giving them the resources, opportunity, education and most of all support, all kids can live the Team Tiger motto – Yes WE Can – Follow Me."

Along with the Sacking Obesity Sports & Wellness Camp, Tiger and Marcus will hosts the 2nd annual dinner event to benefit Sacking Obesity at Do: Musically Inspired Pizza in Atlanta on Friday, April 20th. This year’s event is "Seventies and Sneakers" and includes food, drinks, 70s themed games and music. Proceeds support the Sacking Obesity Sports & Wellness Camp.

Tickets to the dinner event are limited so for more event information and to purchase tickets,

Tiger is also a published author, partnering with Harper Collins to write the first ever childhood obesity book written for kids, by a kid, called Sacking Obesity< /I>. The book, available in June in bookstores, details his own journey and struggle to live a healthy lifestyle. Tiger has shown his commitment to childhood literary development, by giving out more than 3000 copies of his book to charities and children throughout Georgia.

Out of 60 million kids and first in Georgia, Tiger was recently chosen to be the National Ambassador for the NFL "Fuel Up to Play 60" program and will travel to Washington, D.C. in July on the NFL’s behalf.
