Aging Rockers?

By Kaedy Kiely

I was talking up the Roger Daltry concert at Verizon Wireless next week -- I've been reading terrific reviews of the show.  One of my fb friends, a guy I don't personally know, said Daltrey was tired, and that he was sick of seeing aging rockers "dying their hair," and looking and sounding bad because they're too old to rock anymore.  I respectfully disagreed.  Some of the best concerts I've seen have been recently with artists that go way back.  I think of Roger Waters doing The Wall at Philips last November.  The show was phenominal, and Rog looked and sounded happier than ever -- he actually seemed to be enjoying himself!  The recent Dylan and Leon Russel show at Chastain was priceless -- I've seen Dylan plenty of times, and he was in rare form this last show.  Bob Seger and The Sliver Bullet Band a few months ago at Philips was wonderfully memorable -- Seger really knows how to work the crowd, and his band is simply amazing.  My fb friend said Paul McCartney was "losing his edge."  Well, Paul is selling out stadiums across the country as late as this summer!  Daltrey was the one, of course, singing the lyrics to one of the favorite anthems of our youth, "Hope I die before I get old."  Thing is, he didn't, and that's a GOOD thing!
