Holding My Breath

I have my 6 month mammogram this morning.  It's been exactly 2 years since I was diagnosed with my breast cancer.  My lumpectomy was done the first week in April, and the chemo and radiation followed.  Mammograms are always uncomfortable -- you don't want to scare women who haven't had them before by telling them that it hurts, but it does.  it hurts even more after you've been radiated.  I went to sit with a friend at The Breast Center at Piedmont who had a funny result back from her mammogram a few months ago, and I heard that they had new machines that made the procedure a bit more comfortable.  I'll let you know!  In the mean time, I'll still be holding my breath when they crank the knob that last time -- the one where you go, "This couldn't possibly squash me any more."  Wrong!
