I had some friends over last night for dinner and we ended up watching 'Idol' together.  One wasn't too familiar with Steven Tyler (though she knows most of the Aerosmith hits.)  She is just blown away that he is so funny and sensitive -- that's what I'm hearing from a lot of people. Of course, we always knew it, didn't we?;)  I think it's just great that his humor and talent are translating so well on such a popular show.  I must admit that, after last season and with the departure of Simon Cowell, I had my doubts the show would survive.  But it's fresh and fun with the two new judges and a focus on the really talented contestants.  There's still some of the freak show folks, but they don't show nearly as many.  If you found yourself unable to watch the show in the past, give it another chance.  There's really some amazing talent. If you already watch it, can you believe how incredible the 15 year olds are?

I was reading that Joe Perry called Tyler's participation in the tv show, "a step above the Ninja Turtles." LOL!  Tyler was supposedly spending last weekend in the studio with Aerosmith to start work on a new album, which would be their first in 10 years.  Perry wasn't going to be there, though.  Let's hope they'll pull it together to do this!  That the band has been together in their original incarnation for 40 years makes us ALL look good!
