Van Halen 2011

Previous Posts

Wow, I was just reading that Rolling Stone hasconfirmed what I had heard months ago.  Van Halen with David Lee Roth is back in the studio working on their first album in 26 years!  I would have more exclamation points after that last sentence, but I saw their reunion tour a few years ago at Philips Arena and it was underwhelming.  The show had its moments of glory but they were few and far between, and the technical glitches and Dave Lee's age were more glaring. PLUS, how can you have Van Halen without Michael Anthony? I'm all for nepotism in rock 'n roll but you can't replace Michael with anyone, even if his replacement's first name is Wolfgang and last name is Van Halen. I'm certainly willing to give them another chance, though.  I still have every Van Halen album through 1984 on vinyl -- I LOVE this band.  There wasn't another like them, with Dave OR with Sammy.  Michael and Sammy are currently with Chickenfoot, so I'm doubting they'll be involved with this latest VH.  But that'll be a shame.  Van Halen just really isn't Van Halen without them.
