Ahhhhh, good to be back to work after my knee surgery Wednesday.  Before I left, my on-air fill-in, Steve Kelly, asked if he could make up a story as to how I tore my meniscus since the true story of "I'm not exactly sure how" wasn't exciting enough for him.  Apparently his on-air story involved my heroics with a cat in a tree!  I got lots of e-mails and calls while I was out with messages about my bravery and best wishes for a speedy knee recovery.  Thank you for thinking of me if you were one of those people!

The surgery was a breeze. It's pretty amazing that there are just 2 stitches and a small incision on either side of my knee.  I have photos of the inside of my knee where I can see the tear in the meniscus, and some damage to my cartilage.  There's a DVD too, but I haven't had the stomach to look at that yet as the photos are fascinating but creepy.  I've already started physical therapy and my knee's quite stiff with a bit of pain, but I'm told I'll be in great shape in 6 weeks.  So I'm taking it a bit slowly, but glad to have the surgery behind me.  Have you seen that cute Valerie Bertinelli/Betty White sitcom "Hot in Cleveland" on TV Land?  I have a bunch on TiVo and last night happened to catch the one with Wendie Malick and Huey Lewis (playing a once hot rock star - HA!) hooking up.  They had had an acrobatic sexual tryst 25 years earlier, and were trying to re-live their youth after not having seen each other in all those years.  It was pretty funny watching them try to start then stop because of lower back pain, arthritis, and leg cramps.  Aging may not be fun, but it can be funny!
