New Cirque, "Ovo" -- Loved it!

By Kaedy Kiely

If bugs were only this cute!  The new Cirque du Soleil show at Atlantic Station, Ovo, has insects as it's theme, so you know with all the jumpin' and flying insects do this show is highly energetic AND entertaining!  The costumes are fantastic -- I adored the grasshoppers (even thought they creep me out in real life.)  As usual with Cirque shows, the music is wonderful and you have to remember that it's performed live!  One of my favorite acts was the red ants that were balancing and twirling fruit and corncobs in unison with their fast-moving feet.  The finale is a fantastic free-for-all on a huge rock climbing wall with trampolines.  The funny Cirque "clowns" in Ovo are an adorable rolly-polly ladybug, a goofy blue bug with spikes that I couldn't identify, and a bald, colorful beetle that will remind you of Danny DeVito!  Ovo is under the big-top at Atlantic Station until December 2, but will most likely be extended until early January.  Click here for details and tickets.
