Whew!

By Kaedy Kiely

I've been in Boston to see family and friends for the past week.  As I was at the airport heading home yesterday afternoon, I got the call from my doc about my biopsy.  Everything is fine!  No cancer!!  There is inflammation that I'll get more info about today -- something about it coming from having my immune system compromised, so we think it happened because of the chemo.  But no sign of cancer which is a HUGE, HUGE relief.  I tried not to think about it too much while I was away, but those crazy thoughts love to creep into your head sometimes.

Boston was amazing, as always. My mom's 64th High School reunion was last week and it was fun to join her and meet some of the classmates that I've heard my folks talk about throughout my life.  Mum asked me to say a few words about my dad, who passed away in '88.  I had several people come up to me afterwards to tell me what a terrific young guy he was -- a super football player, and a smart, fun person who loved to joke -- it is rare to get that kind of perspective about your partent(s).  I enjoyed visiting my cousins in Marblehead, and had lobster as often as possible ($5.99 a pound steamed for you from the market!) I also took a day trip to see my "Project Wednesday" buddies, Larry and Greg, who have just moved from Atlanta to a small town in New Hampshire (are there anything BUT small towns in N.H.?)  Their new home is just amazing -- right next to a river with beautiful gardens and all kinds of brightly colored birds visiting the plethora of feeders on the deck.  The previous owner even spotted a moose on their property once.  Hello, a MOOSE?  Can you imagine seeing one of those in your yard?!  Larry told us to look at their move NOT as losing two wonderful friends, but as gaining a new vacation home -- love it!  The weather was drizzly pretty much the whole time, but the temps were in the 60s -- flying home yesterday our pilot told us that the weather in Atlanta " is overcast and 94 degrees."  Everyone on the plane groaned...

GO CELTICS!! :)
