Conan was terrific Friday night. I just loved what he had to say about leaving, especially when he aimed his talk to young people about not being cynical -- how if you work very hard and are kind to people amazing things will happen for you. He was also very classy towards NBC. Neil Young is one of my all-time favorites so I was glad to see him in amazing form, performing Long May You Run (very touching, considering the occasion) solo, in a small circle of spotlight with his harp and guitar. If you missed it, see it on YouTube or hulu along with the hilarious (but also touching) Will Farrell hippie rendition of Freebird, with his pregnant wife swaying behind him, Billy Gibbons and Conan on guitars!
Football was just as terrific this weekend. I must admit, I was rooting for Brett Favre and the Vikings to win -- if you missed it, he was wide open to run it in a few more yards to set up good position for a game-winning field goal, but threw an interception instead to put it into overtime and a Saints win. It could not have been a closer game! It will still be a good Superbowl with the Colts and Saints.
I Tivo'ed the SAG Awards Saturday night to watch yesterday. I'm thrilled that Glee is getting the kudos it deserves! If you haven't watched it yet, it is truly one of the most unique and clever shows on TV. Glee's pilot is one of the best hours I've ever seen on television. I can't wait for it to return in March. I'm sure you, like I, always enjoy seeing George Clooney, but what's up with him turning his face away from the camera everytime it was on him (during SAGs and Golden Globes)? And, OMG, I love Joan Allen but WHAT DID SHE DO TO HER FACE?!
I did another "Pink" workout yesterday and am going to love doing these classes with other women at different stages of their healing. I brought my workout buddy Diane, one of my best friends since high school, who gets to come along with me whenever we want to exercise together. Diane has always inspired me to get moving so she was the perfect choice to bring along, and she can work on whatever machines she wants while I'm in my class. The opportunity to use the Piedmont Fitness Club for free (for 6 months -- 3 months for your workout buddy) for women who are 8 months or less out of treatment for breast cancer, with individual and group consultations with Piedmont's fitness, nutrition, and coaching experts, is an incredible gift!
