Okay, Oprah has hers, I can share a few of mine with you. In thinking about some great Christmas gifts, I can give you an idea of a few things I love that I've been lucky to receive myself (in different price ranges.)
The Kindle- If you or someone you love is an avid reader, this is the best gift you can give them. Yeah, I've heard the one downside -- "Oh, I just love the smell and feel of a real book. I like to turn the pages myself." Hogwash! You'll always want to buy certain books to have in your library, especially cook books or books with great pictures (see my next favorite item.) But to be able to download popular books in less than a minute is an incredible convenience! I even get the AJC on my Kindle for a fraction of the price it costs for a subscription. You can get all kinds of magazines like Time and Readers Digest, as well as current best selling books and classics. Most books cost less than $10 to download. I've gotten some classics for as low as $1.99! If you read a review of a book you don't want to purchase yet, you can add it to your Kindle "Wish List" so you won't forget about it. Don't know what a word means? Kindle will tell you. Print too small? Kindle can fix that. Like to hear music while you read? You can do that with your Kindle, too. The Kindle can highlight and bookmark and do all kinds of cool things! I have the first edition of The Kindle and it's still going strong. I love that you can also buy accessories for someone who may already have a Kindle -- very cool covers and reading lights. The Kindle has become quite affordable, considering what it does. Starting at $139 at amazon.com.
AC/DC: High-Voltage Rock 'N' Roll, The Ultimate Illustrated History by Phil Sutcliffe- Okay, I cannot help it. I LOVE my AC/DC! You've got to give it to a bunch of lads that can still rock it out as good 'n hard as ever when their lead singer is 63, and looks and sounds as good as he did 20 years ago! That AC/DC has survived four decades while losing the late, great Bon Scott when they were on the verge of becoming huge is truly remarkable. This hefty book has over 400 illustrations, some rare performance photography, and sidebars by some of rock's finest journalists commenting on various eras of the band. It also features a very cool "spinner" cover image of Angus and his guitar. The book just came out a couple of months ago, and I think any rocker would enjoy it as I do mine. Listed for $35, I found it on amazon.com for under $25.
I'll have more to come. Hey, feel free to comment and add your own favorite things!
You're Almost Done!
