One of my dearest friends, Cyndy, has a close friend whose young daughter was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer over a year ago. Since I want to learn about anything that will help fight this disease and hope you might too, I urge you to read Karson's letter about a petition for a drug that seems to be working for her:

"Hi friends and family, As most of you know, I have been getting the drugs Avastin and Taxol for over a year now for my metastatic breast cancer. Obviously, one or both of these drugs are working since EVERY scan I have received has shown some decrease in my tumors. In fact,
TWO of my tumors are GONE!! In case you haven't heard, there is a good possibility that the FDA will disapprove Avastin to treat metastatic breast cancer due to not enough evidence of "event-free survival" (meaning tumors have not returned). Well, excuse me! I know I am only
ONE person, but this drug is likely working for me!! And it has given me more than a year of life to live since receiving my diagnosis of Stage IV cancer. I would like to have MANY more years to live and I would like to have the OPTION to keep taking this drug!!!! They will continue to approve this drug for other metastatic and non-metastatic cancers, but they may not approve it for metastatic breast cancer. UGH!! This means insurance companies will likely not pay for this drug, which costs approximately $88,000 dollars! Feel free to google "Avastin" and it will bring up articles concerning this recent news. Then, if you feel led, PLEASE take the time to sign this petition and also pass it along to others. I want to live MANY more years,
