What a Doll!

By Kaedy Kiely

I blogged a few weeks ago about the folks in Cleveland, Georgia naming a one-of-a-kind, special edition collectible Cabbage Patch Kid doll after me. Well, "Little Kaedy Kiely" has made her official debut at the brand new Babyland General Hospital, and you can start buying tickets for her (only $5 a ticket) for the winning drawing that will be held on May 14th at their annual Relay For Life for The American Cancer Society (you need not be present to win.)  It was fun to "meet" the doll last month when Tammie, Joyce, Jo and Margaret from Babyland came to visit and get promotional pics.  My mom also came to meet the only non-four-legged "grandchild" of mine she'll ever have.  The doll is a hoot!  I requested that she be bald with a couple of wigs, so they actually had me send photos of me with my wig, Bridgette, and modeled "Little Kaedy"'s wig to look just like it.  They also made a tiny baseball cap with the half-wig sewn in like mine (that was velcroed in.)  She's wearing a rockin' little outfit that the folks from Babyland said was fun for them to pick out -- usually the Cabbage Patch girl dolls are "girly," so they enjoyed rockin' it up a bit.  As much as I'd love to buy L.K.K. for one of my great-nieces, she'll be going to the lucky ticket holder whose name is drawn next month.  I'm hoping to help raise a LOT of money for the ACS, so even your $5 donation for a ticket will be so appreciated.  If you want to donate online, click here and donate to Little Kaedy Kiely's team ($10 minimum donation for online) -- again each increment of $5 will get you one chance to win the doll.  If you'd like to mail a check or money order, make it payable to The American Cancer Society and mail it to: Joyce Henderson/ACS, Babyland General Hospital, P.O. Box 1438, Cleveland, GA 30528.  If you have any questions, e-mail hjl@windstream.net with a subject line that says 2010 American Cancer Society.  Saturday, May 8th, some friends and I will be traveling up to Cleveland for the official Grand Opening of the new Babyland General Hospital -- maybe you'll bring the kids and join us!  I hear it's a lot of fun.
