My friend Susan starts radiation therapy at Piedmont today -- 6 and 1/2 weeks like I did.  I'm going with her for moral support, and to say hi to the good folks that took such good care of me.  By the way, one of the things during radiation that I loved complaining about was the terrible "natural" deodorant I had to use.  The brand I chose did nothing at all for me.  My good friend Larry read my blog and recommended trying the Kiss My Face brand natural deodorant -- he swears by it, and says you can find it at Whole Foods!  Susan was glad to know about it.

Next Wednesday from noon - 2p, I'm hosting a cooking class at the brand new Cancer Wellness Center at Piedmont West (I-75 and Howell Mill.)  This center is fabulous!!  It's a beautiful space with a sparkling kitchen, a library, and lots of open rooms for therapy sessions, yoga classes, etc.  These services are available for cancer patients and their loved ones for FREE!  It doesn't matter where you live either.  The resources are available for everyone.  Please join me, even if you aren't needing the services now for yourself or a loved one -- someone you know may need it in the future, and I'd love for you to be able to experience it a bit yourself so you can share what you know about it.  The class is called, "What to Eat When You Are Undergoing Chemotherapy and/or Radiation."  A dietician and chef will show us how to prepare simple recipes (good for your health AND taste buds) that'll help to boost appetite and maintain caloric intake, and will provide the nutritional essentials to help a body stay strong while dealing with the side-effects of treatment.  Again, the class is free to anyone, but you will need to register if you'd like to join me.  Call 404-425-7944 to do so, and I hope to see you there!
