If you've been reading this blog you know about my friend Brooke, the young mom from Athens who was diagnosed when I was and whose pathology was very similar to mine.  We've had an almost identical experience through chemo and radiation, with Brooke being a month or so behind me.  Although Brooke's parents-in-law are very close friends of my oldest brother, I had never met her until a couple of months ago.  She and I hooked up for tapas, and spent a few hours gabbing like long-lost sisters. 

Yesterday, while I was in Athens for my good friend Jordan Graye's film debut at The Dixie Film Festival (it was great, btw,) I met up with Brooke who joined a friend and me for the movie and for dinner and drinks afterward.  Her husband and two beautiful little daughters showed up to meet us too, and we all chatted with excitement about our upcoming celebration of being cancer FREE in Vega$!  One of Brooke's daughters was completely intrigued by the fact that I was wearing a wig like her mom's.  Before we left, Brooke and I hit the ladies room and were adjusting our wigs together in the mirror.  Brooke pulled hers off to show me how her hair was growing back in.  Before you know it, I had mine off so she could see how much more my hair had grown with just a month's difference.  Suddenly we realized how someone would probably faint if they walked in on us -- two gals holding almost identical long, full wigs with barely any hair on our heads.  It was a GOOD laugh! 

Brooke has 4 more radiation treatments to go and finishes this Thursday -- I am absolutely thrilled for her!
