Last Chemo This Morning!

By Kaedy Kiely

Wow!  I can't believe it!  After today, no more chemo -- I hope FOREVER!!  Unfortunately, I've caught a cold, so my fingers are crossed  I get through the next week without any additional problems.  Had to call my oncologist, Dr. J, yesterday to find out what cold meds I could take that wouldn't interfere with the chemo.  So I'm taking Sudafed and, of course, my trust Cold-Eeze which has helped my throat a lot.

I had a couple of friends that gave me gifts of Instead of Flowers when I was diagnosed.  It's gourmet food, delivered fresh to your door, and the food is terrific!  You get to choose from several different meals, and it comes in a big insulated NICE bag to keep that I've been reusing to bring my cold snacks with me to chemo.  I was saving one of the gifts for tonight, so I'll be celebrating NO MO CHEMO with mom & friends with:

Meat filled lasagna
Garden salad with house vinaigrette
Sauteed Zucchini & Squash (we're actually substituting steamed brocolli with herb bitter -- yummy! - for this veggie)
French bread rolls
Cheesecake Squares

I have a follow-up appointment with my surgeon on Monday.  I had a lumpectomy in March and everything seems fine to me now.  I'll tell ya, though -- it's crazy how long you have swelling and major bruising with a lumpectomy.  You can't imagine until you've had one!  you think there's something wrong with how long it's taking, and the doc just smiles and says you're doing great.

I hope you have a great weekend.  The weather should be wonderful tomorrow and Sunday -- enjoy!
