One Week to Last Chemo-- Then I'm Radioactive!

Previous Posts

By Kaedy Kiely

I check in with my oncologist this morning to make sure my white blood cell count is up to my final chemo a week from today -- woo hoo!!!!  Then radiation starts soon after.  I'm hoping to hold off until the week of August 10th because my cousin has bought me a ticket to see Paul McCartney at Fenway Park in Boston August 6th (would love to say I am up to seeing him at Piedmont Park here the following week, but I don't think my wig Bridgette and I can handle the temps and Porta-Johns!)  I'll be introduced to my radiation doc soon and will find out when my treatment begins.  Once it starts, I'll get zapped everyday (except weekends) for 5 weeks.  I'm told it's a breeze compared to chemo -- I'll see for myself soon enough!

Had a fun dinner last night as a belated 50th birthday celebration for one of my oldest (as in having known her the longest) friends, Diane, at Chow-Baby, one of my favorite places to eat!  Diane is in total denial of this milestone.  I don't blame her -- I'm about 5 months behind her, but will continue to rib her about how much older she is until I pass the same milestone.  Happy b'day today to another one of my good friends who's a '59 baby, Peter!

I hope you have a super weekend!
