I'm finally noticing some discomfort from radiation. Nothing big -- just some heat rash on my chest and a sunburn-like burn under my arm. One thing that makes the underarm burn a pain is that, of course, it's where I apply deodorant. So now I have to wait until the aloe that I use for the burn is completely dry before I apply my "natural" deodorant.
Just so you know before I launch into this topic, I find things like b.o. something I never like to talk about but I'm being real here, right? I was told the "natural" deodorant I have to use (because it contains none of the crazy stuff you find in an anti-perspirant that might sting, effect the radiation, etc.) wouldn't keep me dry, but it would keep me from getting stinky. Not true. I've always liked to smell good, so I usually do. It's funny now though, because I'm in complete denial when I can smell my own underarm without trying to... "It can't be me. I NEVER smell like this!" It's the same kind of denial I had when I gained weight after I quit smoking years ago -- "My dryer must be broken -- it's shrinking my clothing!" (seriously!) I also have to use pure soaps with no deodorants and fragrances when I shower, so I'm finding this problem a bit difficult to conquer during our lovely Hot'lanta summer without showering a couple of times a day and applying my "natural" deodorant three times a day. Ok, now that I can't believe that I've told you about this, I'll include an important piece of advice -- if you must get cancer (God forbid) and have to wear a wig and go off your hormones, fall and winter would be your ideal times for treatment!
I didn't lose at poker this weekend -- I wasn't a big winner, but stayed ahead enough to have a very good time! I love my poker buds!
