21 To Go!

I'm happy to be just over one third of the way through with my radiation -- 12 of 33 treatments done!  I am noticing that my skin is starting to radiation-tan more than burn so far.

The hospital's radiation waiting room is an interesting place -- you automatically get a strange vibe because it's in the basement.  There were several men waiting with me yesterday.   We're all sitting there clutching our little blue ID cards, and you can tell some people really feel awful.  I wonder about each and every one of them -- what are they going through?  What kind of cancer do they have?  Do they have loved ones taking good care of them?  A genuine smile does wonders, and the folks that work at my doc's office are so good about that.  They make you feel as though they're truly happy to see you.  June, Keisha, Catherine and Bobby are especially fun for me each day, even though they have to scurry out of the room as my radiation starts.  Those 5 or 10 minutes of getting zapped are lonely moments.  To help make the experience a bit brighter June brings her iPod in, and everyday there's something cool playing through speakers in the very white room.  I got a chuckle out of Frampton's "Do You Feel Like We Do" playing for me Tuesday!
