My High School Flashback

By Dave Clapper

Working at a Classic Rock station, surrounded by the music that I grew up with, makes it easy to take a trip down memory lane.  I mean, that's why most of you listen to The River.  To flashback to a time and place where maybe everything was a bit better, or easier, or just more fun.  You know what I'm talking about.  Cranking up "The Waiting" by Tom Petty because you remember WAITING for someone to tell you that they love you - Well, the waiting is the hardest part!!

So, my flashback came this past Saturday.  I remember paying 11 dollars to see Iron Maiden play in concert in 1986.  Okay - so it's not the Stones in 75 like some of you - but to me, that show in 1986 was the second coming of the lord.  I rode in the back of my buddy's pickup truck with 8 other people as we drove downtown to the Toledo Sports Arena, drank too much, smoked too much and well - did a little of everything in excess.

An older,  wiser teenager now but still as excited about Maiden, I forked over $80 per ticket to see them this past Saturday for the show at Aaron's Amphitheatre and I must say...Money well spent.  Not only because Alice Cooper opened the show, not only because they played "2 Minutes to Midnight," "The Trooper" "Aces High" and many other Maiden classics...But because, I will always be willing to pay whatever it takes to relive the wonderful memories that music has made for me.

For this Flashback - or any as special as this - It's Money Well Spent.

Long Live Eddie
