This past Thursday, I spent my evening at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Atlanta as 97-1 The River is sponsoring the Hard Rock Rising Battle of the Bands competition.  This competition is a GLOBAL Battle of the Bands with the winner playing on the stage in Hyde Park, London!  This band will be sharing the stage with non other than Bruce Springsteen and the E. Street Band.  Well, Thursday was round 1 with two more rounds to go and it was a BLAST.

The winner in Round 1 was a band from the Woodstock area called "Soylent Red!"  What an exciting night for them, their family AND friends.  Soylent Red is a three pice band with a pretty orignial sound and a guitarist that is about as good as it gets.  Check them out if you get the chance.

3 years ago, a band right here from Atlanta WON this competition - Like I said, it's like winning the lottery and someone had to win.  The band was the Rudy Vaughn Band and they are still kicking it around town trying to take this succes and get themselves to the next level.  

I've always had a love for LOCAL music and although Atlanta doesn't have the greatest local music scene - there are tons of talent here in the Peach State.    Make sure you come and check some it out THIS Friday as round 2 takes place at the Hard Rock Cafe - Downtown Atlanta - I'm sure it will be yet another great night.  Someone's got to win this thing right??
