Getting older sucks.  Bottom line.  But I will say this.  There is something to be said about growing up with the originators.  The brave and talented people that paved the way for modern life.  Whether it be TV, music, technology - it has been the baby boomers, and generation X that have paved the way right?

Think of music....from the classic rock The River plays - the Led Zeppelin's of the world....The Rolling Stones....The Beatles!  It's where it began.  (well, they perfected it at least).

Think of Television...From Walter Cronkite to Johnny Carson to Dick Clark.  These are the men that perfected their craft and paved the way for the Matt Lauers of the world.

Think Technology.....Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.  Do I really need to say more??

My point is that as these people pass on....they leave a void.  LEGENDS at what they did and what the youth of today has to look forward to???  Ryan Seacrest!   I don't want to pick on Ryan - He's GREAT at what he does but I'm thankful that it was Dick Clark that introduced me to REAL music when I was young and NOT Ryan Seacrest shoving American Idol down my throat.

Yes - getting old sucks but damn we're lucky to have "been there, done that" with the people that made it all great.
