97.1 The River Day of Action

These are still tough economic times, with nearly 2 million Georgia residents living in poverty. Join United Way on June 21 for its national Day of Action volunteer effort to help those in need. Locally, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta is asking businesses, nonprofits, civic groups, government, families and individuals to set up and take part in a volunteer project of your choice. Whether it’s organizing a corporate team to stock food at a pantry, donating a business suit to a neighbor short on cash and looking for work, encouraging the kids to donate their unused toys to charity, or tutoring at a school, United Way wants to mobilize the community on June 21 to volunteer, give back and LIVE UNITED.

Doing a little can mean so much for someone struggling to cope in these tough times.  What will your do on June 21st? Go to www.unitedwayatlanta.org/dayofaction and find a volunteer opportunity, or do something on your own, in your neighborhood or with your family and friends to make a difference in your community. Just get involved on June 21 to help change a life!!
