Tommy Bolin of Deep Purple dies of a drug overdose at the age of 25 (1976).

After the death of their drummer John “Bonzo” Bonhan, the remaining members of Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul) make the announcement that they decided to not re-form the group (1980).

The Beatles release their 4th album Beatles For Sale and is #1 on the UK charts for 11 weeks(1964).

Van Halen play a free concert in Dallas. Sammy Hagar had lost his voice while performing a show in Dallas 3 ½ years earlier and promised the group would return and play a free gig to make up for it (1991).

Gene Simmons’ book “Kiss and Make-Up” is released (2001).

Don McLean’s “American Pie” song enters the US Hot 100 and goes on to sell over 3 million copies (1971).
