!!!~SPECIAL FATHER’S DAY EVENING INVITATION~!!!!

97.1TheRiver’s DEEP RIVER MUSIC VAULT ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION at SMITH’S OLD BAR – 6-16-13  ~  7 to 10pm.

One Year Ago, The River Got DEEP, and seldom heard songs from along the River timeline, from classic artists to alien geniuses, started hitting the airwaves of Atlanta and Beyond, firing up the residue of Lost FM Underground Radio. Rock, Blues, Pop, Folk, Roots, R&B and hybrids thereof, from long ago to right now – Fair game for the Deep River Musical Banquet.  Atlanta’s wealth of accomplished musicians keep the VAULT’S Local Pub section swingin’ with weekly features of area artists.

Alex Cooley co-hosted The Vault for Show 3’s celebration of the Atlanta International Pop Festivals, with plans to do so again this July…  Many guests & interviews later (including Chris Hillman of The Byrds, Colin Blunstone of The Zombies, Jimmy Webb, Dan Baird, Randall Bramblett, Tinsley Ellis, Darryl Rhoades, Anne Richmond Boston, Rick Richards, Michelle Malone, & more) and 52 shows in, we’d like to say Thank You.

In celebration, The River is broadcasting the next VAULT show, live from Atlanta’s Local Pub, SMITH’S OLDE BAR -1578 Piedmont Ave. Atlanta, Georgia 30307.

Join Reece and Sir Guy, Sunday June 16th  from 7 to 10pm – with fellow River on-air personalities, Atlanta musicians featured on the show (may include Col. Bruce Hampton, Darryl Rhoades & Tinsley Ellis!) And most importantly YOU – The Keepers of The DEEP RIVER MUSIC VAULT – Celebrating Anniversary Number 1 –  Live from Smith’s Olde Bar – Sunday June 16th!  We’re there 7 to 10pm – stop in for any part of the show! With River gear giveaways and a chance to win tickets to see THE RASCALS: ONCE UPON A DREAM, Sat. 6/22 @ The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

YOU ARE THE MUSIC in The DEEP RIVER MUSIC VAULT – For Father’s Day Eve - Get Deep LIVE with 971, The River.

Your host Deborah Reece is a radio veteran who got her start in Athens, GA.  While working in radio there, she also pursued music as a singer, fronting her own bands, and working as a featured and backup singer for  Randall Bramblett  for nearly a decade.  Deborah has worked with Atlanta musical greats Darryl Rhodes, Diane Durrett, Ralph Rodenberry, Deep Blue Sun, and Terry Flynn.  She continues as a singer with her current band, The Roosters, featuring members of classic Atlanta Capricorn band, Hydra.

It's this affinity for and devotion to music that makes Reece your ideal host for The DEEP RIVER MUSIC VAULT.   You'll be hearing different cuts from your favorite River classic artists, discover obscure gems, and meet some of the musicians that have contributed greatly to the region’s unique music scene.

Sometimes we’ll get all local, featuring area artists of interest in The Vault’s “Local Pub”. Sometimes we'll go upstream and into a River Tributary, to discover lesser known but equally great artists, found deep with The River Music Vault.

And as an antidote to all the heady flashbacks we’ll be experiencing, we'll feature a FLASH FORWARD from time to time, giving you a taste of classic artists’ more recent work.

So, calling kids of all ages: let's get together Sunday evenings and time-trip around the Classics, to discover and rediscover timeless classics waiting to be heard. Because the Well is Deep, in The DEEP RIVER MUSIC VAULT.

Check it out! Deborah Reece was featured on North Georgia Leisure in the article "The Girl Behind the Mic"
