Led Zeppelin perform at the Wheaton Youth Center during their first North American tour. Coincidently, this is also the same day as the inauguration of Richard Nixon (1969).

Paul Stanley of KISS is born (1952).

Jerry Lee Lewis performs a concert at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time, singing “Whole Lot of Shakin’ Going on” and “Great Balls of Fire” (1973).

Meet The Beatles is released in the US by Capitol Records. This is the band’s US debut LP (1964).

The Rolling Stones and the Kinks make their first appearance on the ABC-TV show “Shindig!” (1965).

Def Leppard releases their third album Pyromania, featuring new guitarist Phil Collen (1983).

The Beatles are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Yoko, Sean and Julian Lennon all attend. Paul doesn’t, but instead sends a letter stating that continuing business differences with the other band members is the reason for his absence (1988).

It is the now infamous bat-head biting incident with Ozzy Osborne while performing in Des Moines, Iowa and he is rushed to the hospital to undergo a series of rabies shots (1982).

Sting wins his first Golden Globe for his song “Until” from the soundtrack to the film “Kate & Leopold” (2002).

Fleetwood Mac perform at the Roundhouse Chalk Farm in London with The Move, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and Fairport Convention (1968).

On the very first day of a UK tour at The Dome in Brighton, England, Pink Floyd attempted to premiere their newest album The Side of the Moon, but because of technical problems, the attempt was canceled after a performance of the track “Money” (1972).
