The Beatles perform two shows at the Olympia Theatre in Paris. This is the first of an 18-night commitment. This first night, the band received the news that their single “I Want to hold Your Hand” was #1 in the US and sold 10 thousand copies in an hour in NYC alone (1964).

The Beatles perform the last of a 16 night run billed as “Another Beatles’ Christmas Show” that began on the 1st of this month at the Hammersmith Odeon, London (1965).

Geoge Harrison hits #1 on the US singles chart with “I Got My Mind Set on You,” this just 24 years after The Beatles first topped the chart (1988).

The Cavern Club opens in Liverpool and soon becomes home to many of the city’s bands, obviously including The Beatles. They performed at this club 292 times (1957).

Bruce Springsteen perform at Villanova University, but only 25 people show up for the show (1973).

Cher’s divorce from Greg Allman is finalized (1979).

John Lennon’s art gallery exhibit of erotic lithographs “Bag One” is closed by Scotland Yard (1970).

Fleetwood Mac, CCR and Albert Collins all perform at the Fillmore West in San Francisco (1969).

Eric Clapton records his unplugged session for MTV. The set includes “Tears in Heaven” and a reworked acoustic version of “Layla” (1992).

Jamaican authorities open fire on Jimmy Buffet’s seaplane, thinking it was a drug trafficking plane. Bono from U2 is on the plane as well, but neither him or Buffet are injured (1996).
