Led Zeppelin’s manager Peter Grant prevents Atlantic record from releasing “Whole Lotta Love” as a single in the UK (1969).

Jonathan Cott, who worked with Rolling Stone magazine, interviews John Lennon for what would be the Lennon’s final Rolling Stone interview. Lennon is shot 3 days later (1980).

The Rolling Stones’ launch party at London’s Queensgate Hotel for their album Beggars Banquet soon degenerates into a near-riot after a food fight begins in the dessert course. Brian Joes, who is about to be fired by the band, throws a few custard pies into Mick Jagger’s face (1968).

Pink Floyd complete their tour supporting Jimi Hendrix at Green’s Playhouse in Glasgow, Scotland (1967).

U2 has a two week run at #1 on the UK album chart with How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, the band’s 9th UK #1 album. The album also hit #1 in the US (2004).

The Beatles perform their very last show in their hometown of Liverpool, playing at the Liverpool Empire during the group’s final UK tour. Only 5100 tickets were available, but 40 thousand applications for tickets were submitted (1965).
