Professor Deborah Robbe from Georgia State University joined us to talk about an upcoming event the school is hosting. The Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality Administration will host the National Hospitality Championship. Formerly known as the Battle for Atlanta, the School of Hospitality is taking this event to the next level for 2012. This event will feature two classes - Meetings & Tradeshow Management as well as Expos, Fairs & Entertainment Management - in addition to the Pineapple Bowl, a competition featuring the Best of the Best in Atlanta. This event not only benefits the students but also local businesses. Friendly competition between companies is healthy for the hospitality industry and is a true team building experience for each company. We were joined in studio with Chris Lobkowicz, President, and Anne Preston, Chair of the Board of Directors, for Stride Ahead. Stride Ahead is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to use horses to empower people in need in DeKalb County and Georgia to achieve their highest potential. We use proven methods to provide transformative learning experiences in personal, social, educational, and physical development. Cynthia Daniel, Program Director for Kate's Club, came into the studio to talk about a great organization for children suffering from and immediate loss in their family. Kate's Club is a non-profit organization that empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling. Marcia Greenburg, Regional Director of the Southeast Region of The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, was welcomed into the studio to talk about the organization and what they are doing to help people battling these two digestive diseases. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Furkids is a 501(c)3, charitable, non-profit organization that provides a cage-free, no-kill shelter for rescued animals where they can experience the best care in a loving environment until they are adopted.
