On Friday, February 14th at 9pm, our favorite local music cartel the ATL Collective is bringing their fantastic monthly event right here to Vinyl. Each month they hand select a classic album and some of the best local and national talent to recreate the album start to finish. And for us this Valentines Day, they'll be presenting Prince's 1999.
Man alive, you want mood music? How about "Little Red Corvette," "Delirious," "Let's Pretend We're Married," "International Lover" or "1999" itself. This one will be nothing short of epic. In all likelihood the show will sell out fast, so get yourself and your loved one tickets pronto. Don't have a date? Fret not. There's no better scene for meeting that special someone than a Collective show.
The ATL Collective creates musical events that seek to replicate the intimate experience of listening to an album for the first time, going track by track, reading through the liner notes and turning over the record, truly enjoying the music for what it is, without distractions. Each month, the ATL Collective picks a classic album and collectively covers the track list in sequence, completing the event with themed refreshments for attendees. Previous albums have included The Beatles' Abbey Road, The Clash's London Calling, Neil Young's Harvest Moon, Van Morrison's Tupelo Honey and the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, to name a few.
