The Morningside-Lenox Park Association’s highly anticipated Monumental Ball is back for its sixth year, and it’s gearing up for the biggest neighborhood party yet! The famed fundraiser returns to the beautiful Magnolia Hall in Piedmont Park on Friday, October 18 from 7 – 11 p.m. to celebrate the historic community and the wonderful people who call it home. With exciting giveaways, delicious food and a special performance by the Swingin’ Medallions, this year’s Monumental Ball is sure to be the talk of the town!
To set tone for this epic evening, Ken Covers, Fourteen West, REALTORS, Platinum Sponsor, has hired the Swingin’ Medallions – known as “The Party Band of the South” – to take the stage to serenade guests all evening long. Famous for beach music, frat rock and R&B, the Swingin’ Medallions skyrocketed to fame with “Double Shot (of My Baby's Love).” The song became a million seller in 1966 and has been a party classic for college students for decades, along with "She Drives Me Out Of My Mind" and "Hey, Hey, Baby," which were top 40 hits in 1966 and 1967. The high energy, party-style stage performance of the first Medallions has been passed down to the 10-piece band and horn section that performs today, and they are guaranteed to take partygoers back to warm summer evenings and dancing at the beach – even if it is October!
The Monumental Ball will feature tasty appetizers, bountiful booze and an outstanding buffet dinner prepared by Affairs to Remember, a Platinum Sponsor for the event. Guests can also look forward to an incredible silent auction and raffle bag, which is stuffed with gift certificates from local restaurants and shops. New this year, the Morningside-Lenox Park Association will provide an exciting prize to the neighbor who hosts the largest “pre-party party” at their home, right before the Ball! Convenient parking will be located in the SAGE Parking Facility, accessible off of Monroe Drive or Piedmont Avenue. Guests are encouraged to dress as they deem appropriate – whether it is beach-themed, black tie or dressy casual attire!
Proceeds raised from Monumental Ball ticket sales will benefit the Security Patrol, and a cash bar will benefit the Piedmont Park Conservancy. As a nonprofit organization, the Conservancy strives to restore historic portions of Piedmont Park and protect the Park’s natural environment and historic character.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the offices of Fourteen West, REALTORS, 1411 N Highland Ave, 30306. Fourteen West will only accept cash and check payments.
